Quartz Care & Maintenance

Proper stone care and maintenance is to understand your stone’s geological classification and composition. The information in this guide will help you to identify what cleaning products to use and how to maintain your natural stone countertops and backsplash, shower walls, tub surrounds and/or floors.

Quartz, which is manufactured to withstand daily wear and tear, is one of the easiest surfaces to maintain. It also is nonporous, meaning that it will not stain and it is resistant to harsh chemical cleaners. It is also heat and scratch resistant.

Daily Cleaning and Care for Quartz Countertops

  • Use a damp cloth or paper towel for everyday cleaning of dirt and residue. If more is needed, use a non-bleach, non-abrasive cleaner.
  • Though quartz is nonporous and resistant to permanent staining, wipe up food and liquid spills as soon as possible.
  • For stubborn or dried spills, use a nonabrasive cleaning pad and a mild kitchen cleaner.
  • Avoid using bleach.

Caring for the Countertop Finish

Quartz surfaces don’t need to be polished or sealed to maintain its glossy finish.

Quartz can withstand exposure to normal cooking temperatures. However, it is important to avoid direct heat exposure to protect your counter top. We recommend using heat trivets or hot pads when placing hot objects onto your counter top. Quartz is heat resistant not heat proof.

Preventing Other Damage

  • Although quartz is scratch resistant, we Do Not recommend cutting directly on your counter top. We recommend using a cutting board.
  • Avoid using harsh chemicals and solvents such as paint removers, oven cleaners, nail polish remover, or bleach.
  • Avoid prolonged exposure to acidic solutions such as citric juices and alcohol. If any of these products comes into contact with your countertop, quickly flush with clean water.

Removing Difficult Spills

Sometimes spills dry on the countertop. For dried-on substances like gum, food, grease, nail polish, or pain, gently scrape the excess with a plastic putty knife.

  • If the stain persists, moisten a cloth with a chemical cleaning product to remove.
  • Let the cleaning agent sit for 15 minutes and wipe the surface. Rinse thoroughly to remove chemical cleaner residue.
